Words Unlock Creativity
You Have the Power to Unlock Creativity
I have the power to unlock a creative thought simply by the words I choose to speak.
I must speak creatively to think creatively.
I get to choose.
I have the power.
Aren't those brilliant words to say to yourself every day? Whether you are an artist like me or a businessperson, you need creative solutions every day and in multiple areas of your life, both professionally and personally. How do I start this? you wonder.
1. Tell yourself you are a creative person and can think creative thoughts. Consistently saying those word starts you on the road of consistent creative thinking. What you say creatively can either kill your dream, your business, your relationships, or bring life to those areas.
2. Surround yourself with others who speak creatively. One of the things that I have found helpful for me to stay in the creative "zone" is to be around different creative types and surrounding myself with other creative people, especially if they are speaking positively. I love Ben and Jessica Beresh’s blog at mossybrian.com on specific ways to surround yourself with creative people. I would encourage you to read it.
Additionally, if you look around your staff and you don't see any creative people working for you, it's no wonder there hasn't been an innovative idea come up in years. But more importantly, if you do have creative people on your staff, are those creative ideas bubbling to the surface in conversations and meetings? If not, you probably need to start there and get an innovative solution to eliminate the roadblocks that hinder ideas from being shared.
3. Get outside creative inspiration. Read books that spark creativity. Continue to read my blog posts to help you with creative thinking. All of these exterior activities will stimulate inspiration. 4. Get rid of the deadbeats. Please, whatever you do, get rid of the deadbeats in your life. Deadbeat people are fickle people. They are lazy and usually lack purpose. They avoid things, primarily responsibility. Deadbeat friends tell you deadbeat things. Deadbeat staff members give deadbeat ideas. Who wants to be around a deadbeat that isn't going anywhere? And why do you even have them around you anyway? Why are they on your staff? Well, you say, I can't find anyone else to work here. That right there is a deadbeat answer. Those types of thoughts and words are uncreative and won't get you anywhere.
Change your thinking, and then hire an ingenious person who can help you think out of the box in areas where you are completely stuck. Need more help on getting rid of the deadbeats? Read Susan M. Heathfield’s article on Managing a Deadbeat Employee at thebalancecareers.com
